PROF. DATUK IR. DR. WAHID BIN OMAR
UTM VICE CHANCELLOR
Education With A Substance
Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar is a professor of Structural Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in UTM. He was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of UTM in September 2013.
He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a member of various professional bodies. He is also an Honorary Member of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization (AFEO). His areas of expertise include structural assessment, reinforced and pre-stressed concrete and ductility of high strength concrete and project management.

A Journey To Be An Enterpreneur
Mr Teh Kee Sin, a businessman, operates a SME manufacturing plant in the southern part of Malaysia, Johor Bahru, specialized in electronic and electrical industry. Other than business, he is also actively involved in various Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) which include, Advisor of Prime Minister Office, Advisor of Johor Skill Development Centre, Alternative Director of Human Resource Development, Approval Committee of KOJADI, City Coucilor and Deputy Whip of Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudang. He had also spoken in various conferences and seminars, organized by Government, University, NGOs, etc

What is the condition of the marine habitat now and how is the community mobilizing to document and protect it?
Serina Rahman was once a Third Culture Kid (TCK) growing up in many parts of Europe & Asia. The common threads throughout her journey were an addiction to the sea and a need to compensate for her very comfortable upbringing by helping those far less fortunate than herself. She eventually combined the two by spending time with coastal and island communities to teach them about their incomparable marine habitats. Her time with the people of Mukim Tg Kupang, Johor showed her how much a community can do when they are enabled and empowered according to their needs, goals and desires.

Technology Use In Education
Dr. Shirin is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in Teaching English; however, this is not her only area of studies. Her various papers indicate her enthusiasm in interdisciplinary areas such as Literature, Computer Assisted Language Learning and Teaching, Education, Psycholinguistics, Sociolinguistics, Politics, etc. Teaching English since 2002 in both EFL and ESL contexts, made her a skillful English teacher. Her concern on high quality education drives her to provide highest possible standards of literacy and training for others, while her deep theoretical knowledge in education field has left lasting impressions on her outlook on changing lives through education.

Tengku Zatashah has led an international career from Malaysia to Europe countries, spanning from being a journalist at New Straits Times to working as the International Corporate Communications Manager at the L’Oréal headquarter in Paris. Currently, she is the chairperson of Light Cibles Malaysia and the President of Alliance Francaise Kuala Lumpur.
Despite being the Royal Patron of many organisations, she initiated #zerofoodwastage campaign, working with Kechara Soup Kitchen, and #sayno2plastic campaign where she works on community projects of beach clean-ups, and tree planting initiatives.

Dian Lee is a feminist, wife, mother, entrepreneur, yoga and meditation facilitator, traveller and life seeker. At the age of 22, Dian pursued her dream to become one of the youngest property developers in Malaysia founding The Clearwater Group with a like-minded group of investors.
Balancing her career as an entrepreneur and a mother of 3, Dian found herself in need of deeper meaning and purpose and embarked on a yoga teacher training in Bali in 2016. This inspired her to start her journey on what she calls “Healthy Ever After”- a positive relationship that one creates with one’s self.

Dr Yeong is a senior lecturer. With his interests in embedded system, robotics, innovations and entrepreneurship, he has won more than 50 awards for his innovation and entrepreneurship work, such as World Invention Award at the British Invention Show, Korean Inventor Award Festival, APICTA Award, ROBOCON, Allianz Bank SME Innovation Challenge, Ministry of Education Entrepreneurship Mentor Award, etc. Besides, he has co-founded several companies. One of them is DF Automation & Robotics, produces Industry 4.0 enabled robots which have been exported to US, UK, Mexico, Singapore, Thailand and Philippines.

Atie has an immense passion for arts and designs. With her bare hands and a pinch of an exceptional talent, doing arts does not limit her to just merely holding the brush and stroking the colour palette on an empty canvas. Acquiring her first degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts Majoring in Painting from UiTM, she then first set her foot in the industry as a graphic designer. She later pursued her Master in International Contemporary Art and Design Practice in Limkokwing University of Creative Technology where she lectured there too for 9 years. Apart from that, Atie Jaafar founded ‘Weekendiminlove’ which she aims to use her graphic design and fine arts expertise to something good.

Wesley Chan is a trainer, speaker, coach and former national Taekwondo exponent. He is a Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Trainer/Master Coach under the American Board of NLP. Despite graduated as the Gold Chancellor Award recipient of UTP, he took a huge leap of faith from Chemical Engineering to venturing into something he was once totally unfamiliar with- training and speaking. Armed with burning desire and passion, he is driven to empower and enlighten others to discover their Chemical X- the difference that makes the difference.
